Super Bowl Predictions

Woohoo, Super Bowl Sunday. Next to Iron Bowl Saturday, it's the best sports day of the year. For me, this game has $120 on it for me from a fantasy pool at work. I need the Pittsburgh Defense and their Special Teams to come up with a couple of sacks, an interception, a fumble, and one TD return somewhere. I also need to make sure Willie Parker does not score a touchdown for the Steelers, or if he scores, his total yardage needs to be under 80 yards.

But onto the real predictions. Budweiser will likely have the best commercial. Bruce Springsteen will rock the halftime show, but I don't know if it will be better than Prince's show. Oh, and John Madden will mumble out something that makes no sense at that moment in the game at least 3 times.

As for the game, the key is not how well the ball-hawking Pittsburgh Defense controls the high flying Arizona Offense. The key is whether the Cardinals Defense can put together another solid game like they did against Philadelphia and Atlanta to stop the so-so Steeler Offense. While Fitzgerald, Boldin, and Breaston are freaks at WR, Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward will create plenty of problems and pickup big yards if Karlos Dansby and the Cardinals front seven can't get to Big Ben early and often. Arizona will score some points on Offense, but Warner has to take care of the ball. If he has two or more interceptions, there is no way the Cardinals can win.

My guess is Ol' Man Warner does have a good day, but it still won't be enough for a win. The Pittsburgh D won't give up that easy and that amps up the pressure on the Arizona D who won't be as solid as their previous playoff games. I want to go with Arizona, and support Roderick Hood and Dansby, but I think Pittsburgh wins their record setting 6th Super Bowl title on the shoulders of Roethlisberger who takes the game MVP trophy home too. Matt says Pittsburgh 31 - Arizona 24.

Don't forget, save your 3-D glasses for the best show on TV Monday night, Chuck!
