I set out with a goal of have a blog that would one day be read by tens, no hundreds, no thousands...no millions of people. However, with those high expectations, comes the realization that the only people that will ever read this are my mom, maybe a couple of friends, and some random person doing a google search for a blog actually written by a tiger.
I'm not sure how the process should go. I'm a typical guy, I think I'm funny, I think I have plenty of knowledge, or should I say common-sense tidbits, to share that can make the world a better place. Yet, when I tried to come up with a legitimate first post to let the world know just what "The Blog of the Tiger" was about, all I came up with was whatever I type below. The direction for this site could be compared to a kid at Toys R Us with Donald Trump's money and no workers around. There are so many items I want to open, yet it can be dangerous climbing up three shelves for that new Lego train.
So, how does one with so much, come to grasps with the fact there are so few to share it with?!?! The simple answer is, you don't. Instead, you kick the front door down, step out on the porch and yell, "Hey world, listen to me!" Then you run back inside and hope none of your neighbors were home so you don't become the wierd guy on the street that has the best Christmas decorations in the neighborhood.
There are a few things I know really well. Naturally, the first is Auburn football and that will likely take up many post spots around here. But it's the end of January and if I start posting about Auburn now, by the time September gets here, I would have run out of ideas and no one would read this site anymore. Secondly, I'm pretty sure I'm an expert on being the nice guy, but that doesn't get you very far anymore. It's a cruel world where nice guys finish last, but I say screw it, I'll be the last nice guy around.
Sadly I watch too much TV, so I have vast amounts of useless knowledge and used up brain cells with episodes of Lost, Entourage, Friends, The Office, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, and tons of junk off of MTV (to name a few) stored in my head. I can't imagine a world without music, not raps about getting crunk with my bi***es, or death metal about yelling random words into a microphone, but real music. The pioneers like Elvis, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who. The foundation of American music like Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, Springsteen, and the J Geils Band (ok, they aren't all in a Hall of Fame somewhere). And now, its seems all I listen to is country, the music I swore 5 years ago was the worst stuff even put on the radio. But when all other music genres have foresaken their fans, country is still the same. Tears in beers, cheatin hearts, alcohol, and honky-tonk badonka-donks are what the industry was built on, and they sing about the same things today. If you don't think it is good music, you have missed the rusty old truck waiting to pick you up at the station or you haven't seen Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler.
All in all, this is a pretty worthless blog entry, I haven't solved world hunger, didn't discover Peace in the Middle East, didn't lower taxes, didn't make a little kid smile with a balloon animal, and I still don't know what was in the FedEx box that Tom Hanks refused to open in Castaway. But I did help waste energy and cause more global warming while typing on my electricity draining computer! Take that Al Gore!
With that, I'm out....stay tuned for my Super Bowl pick tomorrow. Let's hope for some good $3 million commercials from companies getting big bailout checks from Congress.
